Carian language, one of the unknown languages of the ancient world, was the language of the Carian people who used this language for centuries. Unfortunately, tiny amount of inscriptions in Carian language survived. In addition to short inscriptions discovered in Caria, nearly 200 short inscriptions were discovered in Egypt. These were the graffiti and short inscription left by the Carian mercenaries employed by the Egyptians Pharaohs.
